ET and God

E.T. and God: Could earthly religions survive the discovery of life elsewhere in the universe?

C. S. Lewis reflected repeatedly on this question. He really seemed to think it carried a lot of weight apologetically. Of course, his entire 'Cosmic Trilogy' is a narrative version of his answer.

What about illegal aliens? It must be okay to persecute them...
Seriously, the two main science fiction themes seem to boil down to: the aliens are benevolent and we kill them off, or... we welcome them and they end up eating us for lunch. Where's the middle ground?

Hi Byron, I've just been discovering your blog - really enjoyable! Yes, someone else mentioned CS Lewis as I've blogged through the alien issue. I must admitt, I've not read him much.

Hi Claire!
