The end of an important section

Ahhhhhh! Quite a few glorious Illy espressos later, and I’m finished with a major section in my ‘final’ draft of my exegesis of 1 Cor. What is more, I’m really pleased with the product. It was an important section too: 1 Cor 8:1-11:1 (Paul’s ‘idol food’ discussion).

Congrats, Chris. I'll finish my section on 2C3 this week too (unless my PC breaks down! )-:)

How did your translation of 1 Cor 7:32-35 come out?

Hey Volker! Go for it! You've been a while on that, so I bet you'll be relieved to get it done.

Hi Derek,
Well, I kinda left it behind me in order to press on to the next section. In other words, the pdf I posted on the blog a few weeks ago is how it remains. Did you read it? Did it make sense?

Chris,

I just cited some of this material (er, Paul, not your as yet unpublished dissertation!) at work the other day. In my mind, the Corinthian corespondence is the single most important piece of NT writing needed for modern Xianity...4:8-17, 10:33-11:1 and much more all point to Cross as life and praxis. I simply don't hear enough Xians, esp in America and anywhere we've done missions, flesh out "If anyone wishes to be my disciple, let them..." with much more than "...have a great successful marriage." "...a great successful church ministry [read:CTRVHM]" "...a successful business." "[esp in America]...a successful sports/Xian music career."

Hi JB,
I totally agree - I've had the same thoughts as I've worked through 1 COr, and said pretty much your comment to my wife on more than one occasion.
