OK, I could have typed this out but I just couldn't be naffed. So I took a picture of it instead! The following footnote comes from Fee's new book, Pauline Christology (p. 6) which I shall be reviewing here soon. I thought it was rather amusing!

Gordon Fee has the best footnotes! They're a whole other book in themselves.
I remember reading that too and thought it was funny too! I really want to get this book and read it! Fee just has so much good stuff.
Quite the zinger from Fee! He certainly isn't afraid to show his cards is he? There are some other great remarks in that introduction as well. His lecture to launch the book was entitled, "Paul's Christology: Invention, Halfway-house, or Neither?" and was simply superb. He mainly went after those (well, one person really) who argue against a pre-existent Christology in Paul.
I have a review of this book coming out in the next edition (or the one follow it) of the Stone-Campbell Journal. I read it like the day after it came off the press. I found it incredibly fascinating and as always, in-depth to the core.
Here sure puts folks like Dunn through the ringer here, not to mention the proponents of "Wisdom Christology" like Witherington. Fascinating book and you're right, there are a number of times when the "comic relief" is much needed.

Michael, thanks so much for the link. I look forward to your review. I wont go into too much detail on my blog about my evaluative thoughts - I'm leaving that for my doctorate!
you're smart...when I posted this quote, I took the time to type it out...
