During our stay in San Diego for the SBL congress, I shared a room with one of nature's rarest and most undomesticated creatures, The West. Of course, this was a chance to learn something about this most elusive, territorial and mindlessly aggressive of animals. It was still a pity things got so ugly at the end.

I was disappointed that I was not able to spot The West for myself while in San Diego. Very elusive, that one.
Tilling,
Irony has descended in so many forms with this post. Not least in the fact tha a day or so before SBL, West himself said there was nothing significant on YouTube. Was he being prophetic (in the prediction sense)? Makes one wonder!
I can't believe he bit you! I pray you got a rabies shot afterwards..
Ha - I thought Mr Attenborough was so over wildebeest...and looking for new subjects...

CLASSIC!!!!
If your goal was to make me laugh out loud, then mission accomplished.
"Examining his... his, uh, hovel"
"got some... small indications of intelligence"
Absolutely priceless. Well done.
Hilarious! It was really exciting seeing the West among the herd in San Diego. Thanks also for this excellent footage of his personal habitat. ;)
Of all the bibliobloggers I enjoy the most when you and West take jabs at one another!
what a messy roommate... ;)
So true "Alec"! Tilling had his stuff strewn across the room like monkey fecal matter in a zoo. I really don't know how Anja puts up with him!
