Margaret Barker on the web

I stumbled across her webpage today: http://www.margaretbarker.com/index.html

While I find some of her arguments quite unpersuasive and even odd, she is a biblical scholar of considerable reckoning. With a writing style that reminds me a little of Martin Hengel, she consistently makes delightfully creative links between different literature, primary texts she knows extremely well. Have a look at her numerous papers, made available online on the above-mentioned webpage under the 'Papers' tab. I'll order her Temple Theology (SPCK, 2004) in the next few days.

She's consistently insightful.

Some things odd, to be sure. But she's also been captivated by the cosmogony of the ancient Hebrews, which I do think can elucidate certain aspects of theology (temple, new covenant, creation, etc.).

Terry and Chris, I have to agree with you both. My disagreements have to do with her notions concerning God and Christology.

If you have heard her lecture you will believe every word she says, she is a highly charismatic lecturer. It is only when you leave her presence and read her work separately that is when you have to ask questions As a person she is truly a lady.
