All the more significant as this evening was spent with a direct blood descendent of Arthur Guinness, the originator of the now famously named drink.
But just so you know, Guinness is filthy black vile slop straight from the blocked u-bend of Satan's own kitchen sink. I just don't understand why people willingly swallow the stuff. This raises a whole set of doubts in me about humans made in the image of God, epistemological realism etc. Pass an empty pint around a pub and ask people to spit in it, add black ink and crumble dandruff on the top = Guinness.
Right, I feel better now that I got that off my chest.
Happy St Patrick's Day!

Agreed. Guiness comes from Satan's sink.
Perhaps it is just us avid coffee drinkers who love it - beer that tastes like cold coffee, what could possibly be better?
The Belgians make a great dark beer too, called "Leffe". And so unless you are going to get entangled in a complex theological scenario in which Satan has multiple sinks, you may need to rethink your position on this...
BLASPHEMER!!!!
1) I don't like the taste of coffee
2) Guinness is definitely one of the finest brews around.
Um...so what beers do you recommend, CT?
Remember that you are part of a very special percentage of the world's population: those who have access to Fuller's London Pride.
Does that other great ming, Wright, like it?
;-)
I think it's vile and it stinks.
Re: Guiness, "let Earth repeat the loud AMEN!"
Apparently my great great great grandfather owned a brewery - but it was a lighter ale. Great great granddaddy drank it dry. That's Irish Catholics for you... ;-)
I'm just addicted to espressos (nothing like Guiness!!).
(and champagne)
Yes, Guiness mixed with Champagne (or cider) is quite good.
However, James McGrath is correct to point us to the Belgians, if we want to drink good beer. I suggest most anything brewed by the Trappists.
James, you have a good point about the multiple sinks. I will have to return to my sources and rethink certain exegetical decisions.
i like Guiness.
signed.... A grand slam champion
