Has anyone had anything to do with the Italian New Testament scholar, Romano Penna? In particular, could anyone tell me anything about his work on Paul. I can't read Italian and I'd like to know what he's about.

Thanks for the link, though. It turns out that Tübingen library does stock this book, so I'll pick it up tomorrow. Rainer Riesner lent me his copy of a Penna book with the small problem that it was all Italian i.e. gobbledygook to me.
I'd read he'd written some helpful passages on Pauline 'mysticism'. Do you know anything about that?
Isn't he also the former President of the European Commission?

no- i haven't seen his mysticism book as i am personally opposed to it. (begin wicked mode) it leads to cathey-ism, a 21st century heresy which makes one prone to wildness.

Well, I was making a lame joke about Romano Prodi, former Preseident of the European Commission, whose name just slightly resembles Romano Penna's, if you are not paying very much attention and have had a couple of glasses of the good stuff.
Jim is right about Penna. I have his works in English. Paid $12 for the two volumes.
