‘[U]ltimately it is not historical criticism which calls into question every church christology and every humanist Jesuology, but the cross. He who proclaimed that the kingdom was near died abandoned by God’

How did God the Father abandon God the Son, bearing in mind that there is only one God?
Was God on the cross?
'He who has seen me has seen the Father', said Jesus.
Did the people who saw Jesus on the cross see the Father who had abandoned him?
'I and the Father are one' said Jesus.
Bluster? Or did Jesus mean what he said?
