‘Orientation towards the future runs right throughout the Gospels. Jesus does not simply teach people how to live; he teaches them how to live in light of what was about to happen’

What does that imply for applying Jesus' teaching to today?
Hi mate!
I like to think of it like this. First is contextualisation, understanding the teachings of Jesus in context. Then comes re-contextualisation, a hermeneutic with careful awarness of the lenses that shap our readings. I used to think this just made the waters murky, but in truth they always where!
A good example of this is the book from which I quoted, The Coming of teh SOn of Man - I'll tell you about it next we meet cos it's absolutely fascinating.
